Connect Plus Services works on behalf of National Highways and Connect Plus to manage, operate and maintain the M25 and its linking roads, including the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing.

We’re writing to update you on our planned works at the Dartford Crossing. We carry out maintenance work overnight, while traffic volumes are low, to keep the Dartford tunnels and the QEII bridge safe and reliable.

Overnight tunnel closures, June 2025

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping journeys safe and reliable, there will be regular overnight closures of the Dartford east tunnel throughout June 2025 for routine inspections, maintenance and repairs. These closures will take place between 10pm and 5:30am Mondays to Thursdays and between 11pm and 6am on Fridays.

The Dartford west tunnel will remain open overnight for traffic.

Please note that a height restriction will apply to vehicles between 4.8m (15’-9”) and 5.0m (16’-6”) high. Important information for drivers of goods vehicles and high-sided vehicles is available here.

QEII bridge closure, 10pm Saturday 7 June to 5am Sunday 8 June 2025

Our next full overnight closure of the QEII bridge, for routine safety inspections and maintenance, is scheduled to take place this weekend between 10pm on Saturday 7 June and 5am on Sunday 9 June 2025.

A contraflow diversion route will be installed through the Dartford east tunnel from 9:30pm on the Saturday night to maintain travel in the southbound direction.

The Dartford west tunnel will remain open overnight for travel in the northbound direction. Please note a height restriction will apply in the northbound direction to vehicles between 4.8m (15’-9”) and 5.0m (16’-6”) high. Important information for drivers of goods vehicles and high-sided vehicles is available here.

Weekend works (10pm to 5am Saturdays and Sundays)

As usual, we’ll carry out our weekly tunnel safety inspections and routine maintenance overnight on weekends. Typically, this means the Dartford west tunnel is closed between 10pm and 5am on Saturday nights, and the Dartford east tunnel is closed between 10pm and 5am on Sunday nights.

The west tunnel will remain open on Saturday 7 June due to a QEII Bridge closure
