I am writing on behalf of Kent Ramblers to invite you to send a representative to the next of our regular meetings for volunteers with an interest in protecting Kent’s splendid public rights of way network. For our purposes Kent includes Medway, Bexley and Bromley.

Most of the attendees will be our own volunteers who spend time checking paths and scrutinising planning applications and proposals for diversion and closure of paths to ensure that the interests of walkers are protected. Applications to develop solar farms present us with particular challenges at present. We know that many parish and town councils also have volunteers interested in these issues – some have attended past meetings and found them useful.

The meeting will be held at Lenham Community Centre, ME17 2QT, on Saturday 7 November. A provisional programme for the meeting is set out below. There is no charge to attend the meeting and a light lunch will be provided. Anyone wishing to attend should email Tony Bristow on [email protected] stating their name, parish/town and any dietary requirements no later than 30 October.

All attendees will be welcome to raise any issues they like in the Open Forum and are more likely to get well-informed responses if they advise me of them in advance. There will be ample opportunity for informal discussion with other attendees, which is one of the major benefits of the event.

Robert Peel, Area Secretary, Kent Ramblers
