Dear Resident,

An online exhibition of The Crematorium and Memorial Group’s emerging proposals for a new crematorium building located at the former Mabledon Hospital site off Green Street, Green Road in Darenth is open for consultation.

Following the grant of full planning permission in June 2016 for the construction of a new crematorium and memorial grounds (Ref: 15/00127/FUL) CMG are seeking to breathe new life into the project by applying for planning permission for an amended design and layout which would ensure operational efficiency whist continuing to provide a choice for the growing population of Dartford and North Kent.

Since the former Mabledon Hospital was demolished, the site has become an urban wilderness, fettered by frequent instances of anti-social behaviour. Stride Treglown Architects have reviewed the approved proposals with a view to bringing forward a revised scheme for delivery and a more sensitive layout that maintains the location of the building in more or less the same sheltered spot whilst leading the way in a nature-first, experience-led approach to crematorium landscape design.
